PROJECT MANAGEMENT

In addition to making nice looking, highly functional online experiences, I also manage projects. More than a punch list of executables, project management is about bringing it all together — the team, the client, the vendors, and the deliverables. It's about strategizing, planning, communicating, executing, and controlling. It takes a lot of energy and effort, but far less than cleaning up a failure.

I begin by asking the right questions: What are the objectives and goals? What are the strategies to achieve the goals? What are the tactics supporting the strategy? These questions help bring clarity to the project and formalize expectations. Effective project management requires never ending curiosity and endless enthusiasm.

I recently completed the University of Chicago Graham School's certificate program in Project Management Strategy. The classes covered a full range of subjects from high level portfolio management down to the day-to-day management of projects.
